Bunkin' it

So every Christmas there is THE MUST HAVE GIFT that my kids want. Last year it was Mickey Choo Choo and lo and behold it was found and given to two wide eyed excited children. This years big gift? BUNK BEDS!!! Many moons ago when we all were shopping at Ikea the kids spotted them and immediately fell in love. Since that time Jesse and I went back and forth trying to decide if they would work best in the room and if maddox was too young to sleep on the top bunk. We all know little grace (aka sydney) could never pull off a feat like that! But as months went on we started to notice maddox hanging half off his toddler bed and thought that yes this was the year for bunk beds. So for Christmas my parents bought and delivered them Friday night. Let me tell you that box was VERY misleading. It was a long skinny box that gave the impression that this sucker wouldnt take long to build at all. YEA RIGHT! As soon as my parents left we got to work. Jesse and I are not the type of people that like to just look at a box for a couple weeks..when we want it we want it NOW! jesse pulled board after board after board out. OH BOY i thought there is going to be a lot of cussing tonight! This thing requires building not one twin bed but two (DUH i never thought of that!) We worked (well jesse worked and i held things) until 11:00 and managed to get all of one bed done and part of another. So lets fast forward to saturday evening. As soon as jesse gets home from work we continue our project b/c lets face it if this thing isnt put together by the time the kids get home from the grandparents sunday night we are asking for a load of trouble. After some minor problems and minimal cussing they were done and they look great! We immediately came up with a strategy plan. Ok we won't show them the room until they both are here AND we are setting rules up to avoid any occurances of jumping off the top bunk or climbing onto the shelves. We all know how my children are and rules but the best part is yet to come...tonight when they walk in and get to see their new jungle gym equipment I am hoping for such excitement they pee themselves but not IN the bunk beds b/c putting those sheets on is a whole other blog...

  1. Your children are angels and would never even consider something as crazy as jumping off of the top bunk!
